Tips for Travellers

Throughout all major cities, and even in small towns, you will find information centres for tourists. Just look for the ‘I’ signs (standing for ‘Information’).

Tipping is generally not obligatory. However, it is a growing practice in Australia, and if you are pleased with your service, it may be good manners to tip about 10% of your bill.

The electrical current in Australia is 240/250 volts, AC 50Hz. The three-pin power outlet is not like that used in North America so you will need an adapter – either bring it with you or purchase on arrival.

Note: If your appliances are not 240/250 volts you will need a voltage converter.

If you wish to travel to Australia for tourism or for a business trip, you will need a valid entry permit such as an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). From this website, you can obtain an ETA approval directly from the Australian Government System.
